Video - Keeping up with the times: Getting employees to stop making inappropriate and outdated comments

Description

This educational video is for supervisors and managers. As a workplace leader you sometimes need help to deal with some of the complex issues related to workplace harassment, human rights and basic disrespect. This video is designed to give you advice to deal with such problems and prevent simple problems from turning into big and costly disasters.

When supervisors and managers come across inappropriate and outdated comments at work, the behaviour comes from somewhere. Most people don’t intentionally say things to hurt the feelings of others, but when feelings are hurt, it can lead to all kinds of problems that come out in strange ways.

This video looks at three typical outdated or inappropriate kinds of comments:

1. Employees who use terminology that is outdated when commenting on colour & religion.

2. An employee means no harm, but while trying to fit in with the guys, he makes inappropriate comments about women.

3. An employee is sarcastic, condescending or patronizing because that's how he or she was treated.

These examples can be applied to so many similar workplace problems. This clip is 16 minutes and 14 seconds. Immediately upon purchase of this product, this video will be provided digitally for you to download in .avi, .swf and .mov formats.
